Transition or Transformation

transition or transformation

Everyone struggles. Everyone has a story. You don’t have to define the rest of your life with what you’re going through or what you’ve struggled with. Your past doesn’t define you, unless you let it. You can change who you are and grow into who you were meant to be, starting now. You have the power to create your future. You are so much more powerful than you ever imagined. People often think that their current circumstances define them and keep them stuck. No one has to live a life they hate. You can choose.

You probably don’t believe that right now. I didn’t!

I can’t count the number of times I heard the statement, “You can change your results if you don’t like them.” Yeah, sure, easy for you to say!

It’s finally starting to sink in. It really does all start with a decision to change. A committed decision.

Change is hard. If it wasn’t, we would all be doing what we want, what is right, what we know deep down inside is ‘best for us’.

You may know an alcoholic that had to reach ‘rock bottom’. You may be surprised to know a married couple looking at the option of separation or divorce. You could be someone who has a dream of getting out of the rat race and starting their own business.

Are you ready to get started? To no longer be a victim of circumstances? To step out of your struggle and write a different chapter in your life? It starts with making a decision, then taking that first step toward a better life.

“Once you make a decision the universe conspires to make it happen” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I had no idea that making a decision was so important. You might already know that not making a decision is really making a decision. You allow whatever comes along to become the result, like it or not. When you know what you don’t want you can start to look at what you do want. You can start to make different choices to get different results.

Sometimes we unconsciously sabotage the results we want. We crawl along doing the things we’ve always done, hoping that things will change. Things don’t change unless we do. Next year is going to look pretty much the same as last year unless you make changes and commit.

The caterpillar moving along from leaf to leaf represents a transition. The butterfly represents transformation. Transformation includes struggle, growth, changes that we may find painful. When you want to change, to grow, to transform your life, you must be prepared for the inner fight. You will face temporary defeat and probable setbacks. The butterfly cannot fly until it breaks free from the safety of the cocoon.

Give yourself permission to be happier. Decide to become healthier, to release the weight, take the holiday. Commit to whatever your big goal is. Let yourself accomplish the goal. Breathe and allow. Sound hokey?

Our minds have been conditioned and programmed. We listen to the news and to the opinions of others. Everyone has an opinion. The opinions of others should never rule our lives. Make a decision.
